Cadets' Mess & Solar Energy Harvesting

Solar parabolic concentrators raise the water temperature to 550C to 650C and convert it into steam for cooking purposes in the Cadets'Mess.The System was commissioned on 26 March 2009

Sainik School Bijapur is always on the lookout for innovative ways to reduce its overhead costs. It has installed hot- water- systems in all its Houses/hostels/ dormitories, providing hot water to 600 cadets to take bath.

Solar Steam Cooking System-a great fuel saver

This Solar Steam Cooking System is facilitating cooking for about 600 students and staff in the mess.

Parabolic Type Concentrating Solar Steam Cooking System :
The solar dish system utilises concentrating solar collectors that track the sun on two axes, concentrating the energy at the focal point of the dish because it is always pointed at the sun at all times of the day. The solar dish's concentration ratio is much higher that the solar trough, typically over 2,000, with a working fluid temperature over 650oC. The school has 10 Parabolic Type Concentrating dishes.
